At Research and Advances in Medicine, an international peer-reviewed open-access journal, we recognize the importance of promoting responsible, transparent, and meaningful research assessment practices. We are pleased to support the principles of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), a global initiative that advocates for improving the evaluation of scholarly research and research outputs.

We believe that scientific work should be assessed on its intrinsic quality, methodological rigor, originality, and real-world impact, rather than being judged solely through journal-based metrics such as impact factors. Meaningful research evaluation should acknowledge the diverse ways in which scientific contributions advance clinical practice, education, innovation, and public health.

By aligning with DORA principles, RAM is committed to:

• Valuing the scientific merit and relevance of individual research articles over journal-level metrics.
• Recognizing diverse scholarly contributions, including clinical data, methodological innovations, educational resources, and interdisciplinary work.
• Encouraging ethical, transparent, reproducible, and collaborative research practices.
• Supporting equitable and unbiased evaluation processes for authors, reviewers, and editorial contributors.
• Promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and responsible dissemination of medical and allied health sciences research.
• Encouraging research that contributes to patient care, healthcare systems, public health advancement, and societal benefit.

We believe that responsible research assessment fosters a healthier and more progressive academic ecosystem. Through our support of DORA principles, RAMJ aims to contribute toward a fair, transparent, and impact-oriented scholarly publishing culture that values meaningful scientific advancement over simplified quantitative indicators.
